In March 2025, Energy Connects — the energy-industry platform of dmg events — published a video interview with CEO Dr. Sascha Kühn, recorded after kraftwerk won the Climatech Challenge at EGYPES 2025 in Cairo. Under the headline “Fuel cell breakthroughs essential to improve energy efficiency”, the conversation is about the aSOFC platform: efficiency, multi-fuel operation and the path to industrial scale.

The technical core: the aSOFC converts fuel into electricity electrochemically, without combustion. Its nanocrystalline electrolyte conducts ions at a moderate 450–600 °C — classic solid oxide cells need over 800 °C — which makes the cell compact and practical for mobile use. The platform is multi-fuel by design, from hydrogen and natural gas to methanol, ammonia and diesel, and reaches up to 92 % electrical efficiency on gas (LHV) in the 1-MW BOX.

The interview matters because it carries the technology into the energy industry’s own arena — following an award won against international competitors. It sits alongside a record anyone can check: TRL 7 completed, 33 granted patents, EIC funding through UAVEndure I and II, and five years of proof-of-concept work with the Volkswagen Group including a jointly held granted patent.

On this site, the technology page walks through the cell layer by layer and explains every figure, and the datasheets are available on request; the vehicle catalogue lists the 38 models upgraded by kraftwerk; the FAQ answers the questions the interview raises most often. The video itself is linked from this page.
